Beginning Friday, March 20, N. Oakhill Avenue from W. Court Street to W. Memorial Avenue will be closed to through traffic. The road is expected to remain closed until approximately late August. Mineral Point Avenue at N. Oakhill Avenue will remain open until approximately mid-May so that traffic can continue traveling east-west on Mineral Point Avenue.
Contractors working for the City of Janesville will be performing utility improvements, replacing curb and gutter, and reconstructing the pavement on N. Oakhill Avenue as part of the annual utility and street rehabilitation program.
Local access to driveways within the closure will generally be maintained. Questions regarding the closure or the work can be directed to the City of Janesville Engineering Division at (608) 755-3169.
N. Oakhill Closure to Affect Janesville Transit Routes
The closure of N. Oakhill Ave. from W. Court St. to W. Memorial St. will create detours for the routes:
- 4: W. Court
- 9: Nightside West
- 24: NW Special AM & PM.
The 4: W. Court and 9: Nightside West routes will detour from Mineral Pt. Ave to N. Grant Ave., to W. Memorial Dr., and resume route at N. Oakhill Ave and W. Memorial Dr.
The 24: Northwest Special AM will detour using N. Grant Ave. at Highland Ave., to Bond Pl. to resume route. Students who normally board at Highland Ave or S. Oakhill Ave. may board on the west side of N. Grant Ave. between Highland Ave. and Bond Pl.
The 24: Northwest Special PM will detour using Mineral Point Ave. to N. Grant Ave. to resume the route. Students who disembark on Mineral Pt. Ave., east of N. Grant Ave., S. Oakhill Ave., or Highland Ave: may disembark on N. Grant Ave. between Mineral Pt. and Highland Ave.
The detour will also close the following bus stops:
- #317 N. Oakhill/Mineral Pt.
- #316 N. Oakhill and Highland
A temporary stop will be placed at the SW corner of N. Oakhill and W. Memorial. An alternative bus stop for #317 Mineral Pt. and N. Oakhill is: The #318 on the SW corner of Mineral Pt. and Grant.
Alternate stops for #316 N. Oakhill and Highland are: The #318 Mineral Pt. and N. Grant, or #194 N. Washington and Linden.
