The City of Janesville temporarily closed the Palmer Drive Bridge over Spring Brook Creek following the flood event on April 17, 2026, to allow for a detailed structural inspection.

Since that time, the City has worked with a certified bridge inspector to evaluate the condition of the structure. Based on this assessment, it has been determined that the bridge can be reopened to traffic which will occur on Friday, May 1, 2026.

During the inspection maintenance items were identified. The City will be coordinating and scheduling this maintenance work as part of its ongoing flood response efforts.

The City appreciates the public’s patience and understanding during the closure.
