The City of Janesville has hired a contractor to paint approximately 237 fire hydrants in the community.
The process will include the removal of the old paint using a technique similar to sandblasting. The Fire Hydrant will be cleaned down to metal, then sprayed with white epoxy primer and repainted with a fresh coat of yellow paint.
This work is intended to begin on May 6th and be completed in about 2 weeks. Areas of focus this year will be streets that were resurfaced in 2025 and surrounding areas as needed.
Any questions concerning this program should be directed to the City of Janesville Water Utility at (608) 755-3115.
