Ruger Avenue, between S. Randall Avenue and S. Lexington Drive, will be closed to through traffic beginning Tuesday, June 2, through Friday, August 28.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) will be completing roadway construction on Ruger Avenue from S. Randall Avenue to S. Lexington Drive.
The project includes roadway reconstruction along with curb and gutter, sidewalk, and utility improvements. Rock Road Companies, Inc. is the general contractor, and Batterman is serving as WisDOT’s consultant engineer.
During construction, Ruger Avenue will be closed to through traffic within the project limits. A signed detour route will be provided using Randall Avenue, E Milwaukee Street, and Pontiac Drive. While the road is closed, local access to properties will be maintained whenever possible. Temporary driveway or sidewalk interruptions may occur during active construction, and advance notice will be provided when access is affected.

Ruger Avenue Reconstruction to Impact Janesville Transit Routes and Bus Stops
Detoured JT Routes:
- The 3: Wright Rd. will detour the inbound portion of the route. At the intersection of Ruger Ave. and S. Pontiac Dr., the route will detour south on S. Pontiac Dr. to S. Lexington Dr. to Mohawk Rd. to E. Racine, and travel north/west on E Racine St back to the Transit Center.
- The 23: Pontiac Wuthering Hills AM Route will detour from Ruger to S. Pontiac Dr. to E. Milwaukee St., to S. Randall Ave.
- The 23: Pontiac Wuthering Hills PM Route will follow the detour in reverse, following S. Randall Ave. to E. Milwaukee St. to S Pontiac Dr. to resume the route on Ruger Ave.
