Beginning Wednesday, June 3, a contractor working for the City of Janesville will be performing utility improvements and completing the associated restoration on Kennedy Road and Barberry Drive, as part of the City’s annual utility improvement program. The utility improvements will include water main replacement, storm sewer replacement, and utility structure rehabilitation and replacement.
During construction, Kennedy Road from Milton Avenue to Humes Road, and Barberry Drive, from Kennedy Road to Woodlane Drive, will be closed to through traffic. The roads are expected to remain closed until approximately early August. A signed detour will be provided utilizing Humes Road and Milton Avenue.
Local access to driveways and businesses within the closure will generally be maintained. Questions regarding the closure or the work can be directed to the City of Janesville Engineering Division at (608) 755-3169.
Closure to Impact Janesville Transit Routes
The closure of Kennedy Rd. from Humes Rd. to Milton Ave. will create detours for the 6:BJE County Loop, and 23: Northwest Special routes.
The 6: BJE County Loop will travel from Humes Rd., past Kennedy Rd., and continue to Milton Ave., then to Black Bridge Rd. to return to the regular route.
The AM 23: Northwest Special will not have pickups or drop-offs on Holiday Dr., Kennedy Dr or east of Norwood/Alden. AM route will exit the Woodman’s Complex, and follow Milton Ave. south, to Black Bridge Rd., to Norwood Rd., to Mayfair Dr., back onto Black Bridge Rd., and Milton Ave. to resume the route. The detour will reverse for the PM 23: Northwest Special.
All bus stops on Kennedy Rd. from Humes Rd. to Milton Ave will be closed, and stop #216 on the NW corner of Alden/Tripoli will also be closed. A temporary stop will be placed on the NE corner of Black Bridge/Sousa.
The existing deviation to IBVI/Industries for the Blind and Visually Impaired will continue to transport 6: BJE County Loop riders to IBVI, two times daily at 8 AM and 3 PM.
