What is Paratransit Service?

The City of Janesville offers Paratransit, or “door to door”, service for qualifying individuals that are unable to use the Janesville Transit due to their disability. JT contracts with You Buy We Fly LLC to provide paratransit services that fully comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act on behalf of Janesville Transit.

Who is eligible for Paratransit Services?

Paratransit services are provided to individuals who, as a result of their disability, are unable to use the fixed route bus system. Individuals who believe they qualify for Paratransit Services due to their disability must apply by completing an application form to be certified as an eligible rider. How do I apply for Paratransit Services?

Individuals must complete and return a paratransit application to Janesville Transit to be considered for Paratransit Services. The application is available online or at the Janesville Transit Office at the Transit Services Center, 101 Black Bridge Road in Janesville. Once JT receives the completed application, eligibility is determined, and the applicant is informed of the decision. Individuals approved for paratransit services receive a Paratransit ID card. There is no cost to the applicant for the initial card, however if the card is lost or stolen, a replacement card will be issued at a cost of $3.

What is the cost for Paratransit Service?

Individuals approved for paratransit service pay $3 per ride. Paratransit riders who receive long-term care support may contact their social worker to obtain paratransit passes. Pay by debit/credit card, Google/Apple Pay, Venmo or Cash App.
