Parks Plan Survey QR Code (5)The annual Take a Kid Fishing Derby will be held on Saturday, June 6, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Traxler Park Lagoon. Co-sponsored by the Recreation Division, the Blackhawk Musky Club, and It’s A Keeper Bait & Tackle, this family-friendly event is an excellent opportunity to introduce children (ages 3 to 14) to fishing! The event is free and will feature:
  • Kid’s Casting Contest (ends at 11:30 a.m.)
  • Minnow Races
  • Tons of Prizes Awarded
  • Picture Taken with Your Fish
  • Biggest Fish Contest
  • Concessions Available

No license is required to fish at the event. Please bring your own rod, reel, and bait. Fishing will be from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., the casting contest ends around 11:30 a.m., and prizes/winners will be announced starting around 12:30 p.m.

In the event of inclement weather, the event will not be rescheduled.

Pre-register on the City's website or in person from May 1 to 31 at the Recreation Division Office (18 N. Jackson Street) or It’s a Keeper Bait and Tackle (815 S. Washington Street). Walk-in registration is allowed, but pre-registration is preferred.
