K9 Service & Information

Patrol Functions

The JPD employs two full-time patrol K9s. These K9s are trained in narcotic detection, evidence recovery, human tracking and location, and criminal apprehension.

Special Investigations

The JPD employs one full-time, single-purpose K9. This K9 is trained to detect certain electronics to assist in special investigations conducted by the Detective Bureau. 

Community Education

The K9 Unit is dedicated to service with Pride, Honor, Courage, and Respect. We are also dedicated to ongoing community outreach and education events.
