In January 2025, the Janesville City Council voted to approve the Janesville Anti-Cruising Ordinance. The newly amended policy granted law enforcement the authority to impound and tow unregistered vehicles, as well as vehicles operated by reckless drivers. The goal was not harass individuals using the thoroughfare for transportation to, from, and between businesses, but to improve the quality of life for everyone who lives in and visits the area known as "the strip".
